Das Buch ist eine zeitgerecht aufgemachte und reichhaltig mit Bildmaterial versehene Einführung in das faszinierende Thema Meteorite. Der Untertitel läßt zwar ein Buch mit starkem geschichtlichem Bezug und das Titelbild ein Buch mit stark sensationsheischendem Inhalt vermuten, aber hier liegt populäre Wissenschaft in ihrer besten Form vor. Das Thema wird erschöpfend und verständlich behandelt, durch das ganze Buch ziehen sich erläuternde Zeichnungen und Bilder, das Buch verläßt nie den Boden der gesicherten wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis.
