Der Begriff der "Großen Kometen" wurde in der Öffentlichkeit Ende der 90er Jahre durch die spektakulären Kometen Hyakutake und Hale-Bopp wieder bekannt. Aber sogenannte "Große Kometen" gab es in der Geschichte immer wieder. Diesem Phänomen ist dieses Buch gewidmet.
